Montezuma

Montezuma you were good to us.

Romy, our firstborn child, celebrated 13 years last Sunday (when did that happen?). So as a family tradition, we made a little trip, and this time we decided to go and celebrate in beautiful Montezuma
We actually lived in Montezuma during our first month in Costa Rica a year and a half ago.

To get to Montezuma from most locations in Costa Rica, you need to take the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera. It takes about 75 minutes, and you can come with your car aboard. You can pre-buy the tickets online, but if there are no tickets available at your required time, you should know that they only sell 50% of the tickets online and the rest are sold on-site, so if you’ll arrive 90 minutes before departure time, there’s a good chance you’ll get tickets.
There’s a cafeteria and many benches to sit and enjoy the view or to sit inside with the AC.
We love to sit outside and buy the kids popcorn 🍿

After the ferry, we had another one hour drive to Montezuma.

We arrived at our hotel, “Finca Los Caballos“. Oh, what a beautiful place! great rooms, great hospitality, and great people. The hotel is not located in the center, which for us is a big plus; it’s much more quiet and peaceful, and it’s 5 minutes drive from the center and 10 minutes drive from Cobano, the closest town, where you can find supermarkets, a bank, and other services.

We were fortunate to arrive exactly in the last days of the February amusement park, which arrives each February for 3 weeks.
The kids LOVED it!!!

Santa Teresa

The closest and most touristy town is Santa Teresa. It is a beautiful beach town full of good restaurants, beautiful stores, and, of course, a beautiful beach.
We spent there a whole day and had so much fun that we ended up staying almost until midnight, when we are usually asleep 😴
We ate lunch at the Bakery, then a yummy ice cream (with lots of vegan options!) at La Glida, and sushi dinner at Satori.

On our way back home, we missed the ferry and had to wait for 3 hours for the next one, but we had such a good time; every minute was magical, and most importantly, Romy enjoyed her birthday 🥳
